What's moonlight got to do with anything?
Have you ever noticed how much you can tell about someone based on their favorite things? For example, I love the ocean in all its spinning, churning, magnificent glory. No surprise it's something of a metaphor for my life.
I write and publish YA fiction, mind/body/spirit books and essays, commercial nonfiction, scholarly work, and whatever fanciful topics cross my desk and grab at my attention. I also lovingly cultivate and tend my holistic health business, Seven Sacred Breaths, and work full-time for a large university.
I also have a fun and funky shop, Zoliann's Garden, where I sell handcrafted, Reiki-inspired jewelry--the inspired results of a still mind and calm breath. (Even the ocean quiets a bit when the tide rolls out.)
Let's face it, despite all those pitfalls--shadows, darkness, the unknown--I like to steer by moonlight. Those dangers create the same opportunities that force us to assume the best, step forward, and feel our way, no matter what lurks. And sometimes, phenomenal things are waiting!
I can't even guess what's for dinner tonight let alone see what's ahead, but I do know that if we choose not to move, we stagnate and eventually die, inside and out. Writing allows me to heal, and healing nearly always involves writing--two worlds that sometimes delicately, sometimes ferociously intertwine in the most fantastic ways.
Join me as I steer by moonlight. The discoveries will be countless!
